As if the zillions of Bakugan creatures aren’t clever (and expensive!) enough already, now they are getting “battle gear.” This toy seems to work just fine and is durable. I buy them for my 7-year-old son who is crazy for Bakugan. I have two objections, though: the new toys don’t stress enough hat they DON’T fit all the Bakugan–just the newer ones for which they are designed. Second, the advertising/packaging for his particular toy showed it attached to another Bakugan creature which gave my son (and me) the impression that the creature came with the battle gear. It does not, and that was a big disappointment for my son.

When my son ordered this with my approval I was under the impression that the creature came with the gear also. This was a big disappointment to him.

My son received these for Christmas and after a major effort to free them from their packaging, they haven’t been touched since. They aren’t like traditional glass marbles, they are made of a plastic resin. I was hoping he would battle with them like a regular marbles game but so far he has had no interest. If your child likes to play marbles and is a Pokemon fan, these would be good.

Purchased this to take to Chantz,my Grandson,on my visit to Florida. He thoroughly enjoys collecting them. He was so excited to add these to his collection. I even enjoyed playing & seeing what they were all about even being his Nana.

We got the red pack first (one broke), then the blue pack, and for the green pack I made my son ‘work’ for it ($1 for doing homework without complaining, etc.). He was diligent and relentless! He has had the green pack now for about a month and still loves all his Bakugan. Considering how much you can pay for a toy that rarely gets used, these are worth the money. Also, although one did break early on, none of the others have, and at this point they have been tossed into the backpack and thrown around a LOT. So I think overall they’re pretty sturdy. Definitely a winner of a toy for us!

Although overpriced my son loved these 3 metal cards and 3 cool little balls that open into cool little creatures when magnetized by the cards! Neat! The product also arrived on time too. Good business Reducing the price, if possible, would definately be a plus

My son loves these toys, they are creative, insightful and challenging to create various fighting scenarios. These toys add an exra dimension from most card playing games since there is the physical battle that takes place (rolling the bakugan, finding the bakugans strengths and weaknesses via the card, etc.) I recommend purchasing the arena after your child has several bugugans. I like the way the magnet causes the toys to expand. Very creative and fun!

MODERN DAY GAME OF MARBLES

The Bakugan-Mania is here. I had no idea what my daughter was talking about since she spoke a mile-a-minute about what the latest craze in children’s toys. These items are in extremely high demand and are similar in genre to Pokemon cards, Yu-Gi-Yo, and Digimon. The characters appear to be a spin off from Japanese anime, in my perception.

What are Bakugan?

They are action figures that are morphed from small plastic marbles, based upon a television show on the Cartoon Network. Each figure comes with a metallic card that has a point value. A point value is also imprinted on the figure.

A magnetic lock in the toy is triggered to open when the figure is placed onto a metallic game card.

How do you play the game?

Each player starts out with 3 Bakugan and 3 cards. Only one care can be a special ability card. The youngest player starts. Depending upon how many players are participating (2-4), determines where the cards are placed in the arena. When a Bakugan is rolled and lands on a card, it opens.

If the Bakugan does not open, the player loses a turn.

If 2 figures land on the same card, a point total is taken to count up the power value of the Bakugan + the value of the card. The higher sum wins the card and the figure. At the end of the round, the highest total of points wins the game.

My daughter’s after-school care has an Bakugan Class where children play in the afternoon. She is 7 years old but her friends who have it range from 6 to 10 years old.

This game represents a unique and revolutionary spin on the game of playing marbles. It is quite creative and superficially complex to play. However, many children are compelled to play it all over the country.

Educational value

Strangely, enough, this toy has an ACTUAL educational value by requiring the players to add up or subtract the values of each figure/card.

Safety and Caveats

Since these are essentially small marbles, caution should be exercised if you child has small siblings who may try to swallow this toy. It is too big to fit into someone’s ear or nose; however the danger is accidentally swallowing it or aspiration (going into the child’s airway). You should also be aware if you have pets since it may lead to a dangerous bowel obstruction if ingested/eaten by your pet.

Durability

These are relatively fragile items that require users to be careful with the moving parts. Sometimes, the mechanisms are defected or through wear and tear may not allow the action figure to open or close.

Conclusion
This toy system is, for now, one of the hottest items in the toy world. If you are actually lucky enough to find it, or willing to pay the premium, then you should strongly consider getting it. Your child will be extremely happy.

These Bakugan balls are the latest craze. My boys won’t put them down! Just beware of all of the commands that come with the play. Your whole house will be filled with…”Bakugan Brawl…Bakugan Stand”. Have fun!
